Smith’s Ranch Drive-In. The only actual movie theater in town (but thank God it’s a drive-in and perfect for those warm desert evenings). Smith’s Ranch Drive-In always projects two major first-run films at the same back-to-back showing, with new movies each week.  It’s a great family value at only $3.00 per person admission. You can even watch at least one falling star per movie, and that’s something you don’t get with those indoor movie theaters.

It has been said by some folks that drive-in theaters are how God intended movies to be watched.  Anyone want to argue with that?

Smith’s Ranch Drive-In is located at 4584 Adobe Road, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277.  For the latest movie listings, call: (760)367-7713.  Movies begin at dusk, and a snack bar is available.

Historical Note: Drive-in movie theaters are a 100% American product, invented in 1932 by Richard Hollingshead Jr. of Camden, New Jersey. He even had a patent on them (#1,909,537: The Park-In Theatre).  However, the Supreme Court ruled this unconstitutional in 1945, making it possible for anyone to open a drive-in theater.

We are proud to say that we are keeping an American tradition alive--the drive-in movie--right here in Twentynine Palms!
